THE CPCAB TRAINING ROUTE

'

The CPCAB-awarded Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills represents the first stage in training as a qualified counsellor.

Counselling, as a profession is overseen by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care in the UK, which ensures that regulatory establishments in the health professions have recognised standards for safe and ethical practice, and have Accredited Registers of qualified counsellors, the largest of which is BACP (the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy).

CPCAB's CSK-L2 Certificate in Counselling Skills is the initial step on your path to a recognised, professional qualification in therapeutic counselling at Level 4 (CPCAB's TC-L4 Diploma qualification), which can build in an assessment by BACP the largest such organisation in the UK, affording successful candidates immediate recognition as full BACP members upon completion of your training.

Please note that not all CPCAB-recognised centres support a BACP-approved qualification, so please do check with your chosen Level 4 provider first. Whoever you choose as your counselling trainer, we would advise that you take a counselling training that is recognised by an organisation listed by UK's Professional Standards Authority. CPCAB's BACP-approved Level 4 training meets the requirements for entry for a number of these bodies.

You can find a list of professional counselling organisations with Accredited Registers by consulting the UK's Professional Standards Authority website, and an interactive list of L4 training providers on CPCAB's Centre Finder page.
